What’s the difference between a Medicare supplement and a Medicare Advantage plan?
A Medicare Supplement supplements original Medicare. It generally gives you the flexibility to see any doctor who accepts original Medicare. However, it only covers expenses covered by original Medicare and does not include extra benefits beyond what original Medicare covers.
A Medicare Advantage Plan, like the ones from Health Alliance, gives you the comfort of having an in-network primary care provider to oversee all your care. Medicare Advantage plans replace original Medicare and may cover benefits that original Medicare doesn’t. They also may include extras, like a fitness center benefit and a 24-hour Nurse Advice Line.
